Everyone is welcome to propose and lead a session where conversation and collaboration are paramount. The day is completely participant-driven. Check out this video to see what it is all about.

Do I have to present?

You do not need to present when you attend an Edcamp. However, anyone with a good idea is encouraged to lead a conversation. Edcamp is all about learning and sharing. You are welcome to propose a session where you are the expert or to propose a session where you are the one with questions or concerns. Sometimes the best learning is born of informal conversation.

"Teachers Also Have Rights "- Tom Dunn, Teacher and Attorney
"How to Start Your Own School" - Amy Arnold

The day will start with check-in/registration at 7:30 AM and our Keynote will start promptly at 8:00 AM with the topic- Empowerment is Not a Dirty Word. Teachers will then enjoy a quick break and we will go into their choice of breakout sessions from 9:00 AM until Noon.

We will break at noon for a catered lunch and a star packed panel on teacher burnout featuring REAL teachers. After lunch, we will have some time for networking with more sessions available from 1:30PM -3:30 PM.

You will leave with not only strategies but action plans to make you more focused for the end of the remainder of the semester AND the upcoming school year.

Rather than study the military commander drafting the battle plans, we examine the life of the soldiers on the front line enacting them. Instead of discussing the macroeconomic implications of women entering the workforce, we study the changes in family life as women leave the home. This approach means recognizing that history is a lived, personal experience. As famed English historian G.M. Trevelyan has argued, "Every true history must force us to remember that the past was once as real as the present and as uncertain as the future."

Organization:
Event Location: Episcopal School of Baton Rouge
Street Address: 3200 Woodland Ridge Boulevard

Proposal Deadline:
Event Details: EdCamp is an unconference event that is organized for teachers by teachers!

What makes EdCamp an unconference?
Unlike traditional conferences which have schedules set months in advance by the people running the conference, EdCamp has an agenda that's created by the participants at the start of the event. Instead of one person standing in front of the room talking for an hour, people are encouraged to have discussions and hands-on sessions. Sponsors don't have their own special sessions or tables, all of the space and time are reserved for the things the people there want to talk about. People could pay hundreds of dollars to attend another conference, or they could go to EdCamp for free!

Built on principles of connected and participatory learning, EdCamp strives to bring teachers together to talk about the things that matter most to them: their interests, passions, and questions. Teachers who attend EdCamp can choose to lead sessions on those things that matter, with an expectation that the people in the room will work together to build understanding by sharing their own knowledge and questions.

Event Details: In this intensive 4-day summer workshop, participants work to deepen their understanding of the mathematical ideas that both underlie addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division and also connect arithmetic to Algebra. Participants will take on the role of students as they take part in Deductive Lessons that are core to our Number Reasoning program and build new understandings of key mathematical concepts in ways that support deeper understanding, reasoning, and transfer across topics. Studio Time follows, as we try out both a key practice and the ideas constructed through the Deductive Lessons.

Throughout the Collaboratory's 4-day workshop, we'll overview practices that anchor a Number Lab Classroom, highlight important models that support deep understanding, study artifacts of student work, and learn more about what contributes to positive classroom culture and norms of productive discourse. The focus, however, will be around content and understanding the Number Reasoning Matrix. We'll also talk together about the challenges of shifting our mathematics instruction from a skills-based/procedural approach towards presenting mathematics as a coherent discipline that supports sense-making.

The format of a Collaboratory is very casual and there is a great deal of discussion as teachers and instructional leaders from a number of schools come together to prepare to shift their instruction during the upcoming school year.

Educators' Collaboratory 2017 will be Monday, July 10 - Thursday, July 13 at the AT&T Conference Center at The University of Texas in Austin, Texas.

Advanced Collaboratory 2017 will be held Monday, July 24 - Thursday, July 27th at the number lab in Austin, Texas. Advanced Collaboratory registrants must have attended Educators' Collaboratory 2016.

Daily sessions are 9:00 - 3:00, with a lunch break.

The cost of the Educators' Collaboratory is $600 per person; groups of 5 or more from one school or district receive a discounted price of $500 per person.

The cost of the Advanced Collaboratory is $600 per person.

Registration closes June 1, 2017 or when we are full.
